The College of Health Sciences has embarked on an ambitious project of building an extensive virtual resource centre to support its postgraduate students by providing extensive information to assist them in every stage of the research, from the initial conceptualisation of a research project right through to successful graduation and publication of research papers. This project commenced in July 2021 and the number of pages available to you will expand rapidly.
The Virtual Resource Centre is one aspect of our vision for the encouragement and promotion of successful research amongst our students and staff other important streams within this project include the Doctoral Academy, regular Zoom-based meetings, webinars and courses, revision of rules, procedures and protocols, and strengthening supervision within the College. Extensive and detailed material is also being made available under the research section of each schools website providing details of the postgraduate programmes offered in each school, and advice and instruction on how to navigate the administrative procedures associated with postgraduate study, including application, registration, suspension of registration, withdrawal from the study, change of supervisor, submission of a concept note, submission of a protocol, notice of intention to submit a thesis, submission of a thesis and details of the examination process. These pages were rolled out in the School of Clinical Medicine in July 2021 and may be accessed here. The remaining three schools will be brought on board as soon as possible.
In order to minimise duplication, all our material will be placed within the CHS doctoral Academy site. This will, despite the name, include material relevant to masters, honours and undergraduate research. Where necessary these are grouped separately or clearly indicated as relevant to a particular level of study.
