The University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Discipline of Public Health Medicine offers a Graduate Programme in Public Health (Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health and a Master of Public Health). The Graduate Programme in Public Health equips graduates with the knowledge and skills to contribute to transforming health systems and improve health outcomes for populations.
Eligibility Criteria
- Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health: A minimum 3-year Bachelor’s degree in a health or social science related discipline (at NQF Level 7) with at least 2 years’ applicable practical public health work experience.
- Master of Public Health: A 4-year Bachelor degree at a Honour’s level in a health related or social science discipline (NQF Level 8); a 3-year degree in a health-related or social science discipline plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health or any health-related domain, with at least 2 years’ practical public health work experience.
Structure of Programme
The curriculum is fully modularized, comprising of core and elective modules with a 50% research component. The programme is offered on a part-time basis via blended learning, with each module requiring active participation over the semester.
