International Association of Ecology & Health African Chapter Conference

13 November - 14 November

Ecohealth is a research approach that addresses health in the context of the physical and socio-political-cultural ecological environment. The approach is premised on sixpillars; systemsthinking, transdisciplinary, stakeholder participation, gender and social equity, knowledgeto action and sustainability. This concept was introduced to Africa many years back by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC Canada) and many ecohealth research projects in Africa have been supported through this initiative. Within this context an ecohealth Research network in Southern Africa (ECOHESA) was formed.  The ecohealth international – African Chapter serves two purposes: providing a forum for sharing research findings that address health problems holistically (socio-cultural-ecological), and providing a forum for the establishment of the African Chapter of ecohealth international.
