BIOSKETCH
Suzanne Stokes, registered as an Educational Psychologist with the HPCSA, works at Student Support Services within the College of Health Sciences. She provides psychotherapy utilizing Solution Focused, Ego-states and Gestalt therapeutic approaches tapping into her clients’ resources, strengths, assets and resiliencies. She also offers individual and group therapy, psycho-education, individualized academic support, career planning and exploration. She aims to empower clients to regain hope over their personal obstacles, reduce the impact of life challenges on one’s wellbeing, manage new adjustments and transitions, and address stressful and traumatic experiences. She advocates for all students to experience a sense of belonging and positive identity while at university, explore strategies for an improved lifestyle, and empowers and equips clients in achieving holistic wellness. She is a psycho-education curriculum developer, enjoys the flipped classroom experience, and is passionate about building learning and living communities.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
I am keenly interested in student development, success, and flourishing. I am also passionate about program development and the use of technology to aid the psychosocial development of student well-being.
