Parents attending Parents’ Day at the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine (NRMSM) were glad to have been visited by the Speaker of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, Mrs Peggy Nkonyeni, who addressed the parents on behalf of the current MEC for Health in KwaZulu-Natal about the importance of fully supporting all students who are entering the health profession,  “…as it remains a profession of delicacy,” she said.

The parents were also assured that of the estimated of 5000 applications received to study Medicine at the NRMSM, the selected 210 were amongst the best.

The new Dean of the NRMSM, Professor Umesh Lalloo also stressed the demanding nature of the medical profession to the parents, hence the importance of active engagement and support to their children’s studies. Apart from the exciting physical infrastructure development happening at the Medical School, parents reported that they were confident that their children are in capable hands at the NRMSM.
